Grief's 3rd album after the genre-defining "Come to Grief" and "Miserably Ever After"!
A Sludgecore classic masterpiece!!!
Grief. Such power in a single word. And such a perfect word to use for the name of this band. Nothing describes the music more.
To those alien to the sound of Sludge, this is the definition of grief put to noise.
First, notice the album cover - a void which seems to be some sort of portal, and a decaying torso floating through it. Whoever this man is, he is unrecognizable now - his head has exploded from the sounds of Sludge. This man could be you after listening to this record.
But to those familiar with Grief's earlier material, this will be a fun ride, so pack some beer, a bong, and let's get to listening.
This one opens up with the instrumental "I Hate Lucy", which [I think] is a play on the show "I Love Lucy." Starting out with a slow riff that hooks any Doom fan from the getgo. Grief haven't lost their doom-and-gloom and they definitely still have their sludge sound. Ripping guitars, thunderous bass, drums that sound like war elephants rushing at you. This is a perfect album opener and a great start to an album.
After being pummeled for seven and a half minutes, "Polluted" begins, picking up the speed a bit and showing some more energy. Riffs are still trippy as fuck and should please any person out there who enjoys some recreational drugs.
"If there's life in outer space, take me away from this place. Beam me up - I'll volunteer; it can't be much worse than here. Watching your back all the time - every single minute, crime. Raping, murder, stealing, fraud - Church is a scam, so is God."
This album ranks up there with "Come To Grief", "Dopethrone", "Stash" and "Take as Needed for Pain".
Some seriously gritty Sludge on this album. Slow paced, thunderous and loud. Its fucking nasty, but it works.

GRIEF are back with another full length masterpiece of Slowcore / Doomsludge.
You'll be scooping tar out of your speakers for weeks after listening to this puppy.
On "Torso" GRIEF have taken the best elements of their two previous full length releases and combined them. They have the sharper focus and better song writing found on their last album but have recaptured the raw and plodding forcefulness of their debut.
As one of the premiere bands in their genre there are very high expectations every time they set foot in the studio and on this record, as always, they deliver.
Heavier than most Metal, more extreme than most Hardcore, and slower than most baseball games.... what more could you ask for?
